February is the month of love which I am all for (being a wedding planner and all) and what a more fitting way to honour that than highlighting a floral design studio. Meet Pretty Petals Floral Designs based in Okotoks, AB, owned an operated by Andrea. They provide artfully arranged flowers for weddings, events and holidays that I just can’t get enough of.

Based out of her home, Andrea creates stunning works of art with various types of greenery and florals. She is excellent at responding to couples and working with their budget to create the best arrangement for each couple she works with.

I asked her to tell us about her company and how they work and this is what she said:

How long have you been a florist?

I have been a in floral design for 10 years.

How did you get into the industry?

I always wanted to have a career where I can have a creative outlet, I took the floral design program at Mount Royal for fun and fell in love. I worked for a few floral shops before opening my own company in 2013.

What can brides expect when they work with you?

We strive to have a very personal and exciting experience, we want to make sure that we understand each couples vision and make sure we can create flowers that they will fall in love with and get excited about! We schedual consultations to discuss all the floral details and like to educate couples and involve them in the design process so they know exactly what they are getting and are happy!

What is your favourite arrangement to make?

My favorite type of arrangements to do are any kind of ceremony arch designs. They just set the stage for the ceremony and add that beautiful touch that frames each couple while they say their “i dos”

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job would be that each couple and their wedding we work with are totally unique and we have a new opportunity to create something new with each couple!

What is the most extranvigant wedding you’ve ever worked on?

The most extravagant wedding is tough, we have worked with so many couples in designing such beautiful designs. Honestly I can’t choose! One unique one we recreated giant trees for centerpieces for a couple for their enchanted garden themes wedding, it was simple, impactful and stunning!

What is your favourite flower and why?

I would have to say phalaenopsis orchids. I love the simplicity and beauty of orchids.

What is it like running your own business?

Running my own business is absolutely rewarding, I have the flexibility and am able to work with so many great people and vendors! It is a lot of work but I would not change it for the world!
